Opaline Cerium Oxide Compound (20 Kilogram Pail)

Opaline Cerium Oxide Compound (20 Kilogram Pail)

Item #C390

The abundant metallic elements of atomic number 57 through 71 (Lanthanide series) are known as rare earths, so called because they were originally thought to be rare.  Cerium Oxide (atomic number 58) is the most abundant of the rare earth compounds. Cerium oxide in a water slurry is the best polishing agent for glass as regards to the rate of removal and ultimate surface finish.

Opaline is an extremely pure (white) cerium oxide compound.  Strict control over all of the critical parameters (hardness, shape, size and distribution) make Opaline the perfect choice for high precision polishing of all types of glass materials that required a critical surface finish.
